What is ‘copywriting’?
Not to be confused with the legal means of protecting an author’s work (copyright), copywriting is the mix of art and science to produce written words that influence and persuade the reader to take a certain action, usually to buy.
Why do I need a professional copywriter?
A professional copywriter will do what most people can’t; find the right words that hook your ideal customer and then persuade them to take an action.
There’s a lot more to it than that, especially when talking about digital copy and SEO. But, in a nutshell, a professional copywriter is selling your brand, product or service, in the written form and helping to push both cold and warm prospects down your sales funnel.
What is content marketing?
“Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.” – Content Marketing Institute
Content marketing is part of your bigger marketing plan and will involve things such as videos, blog posts, social media posts and other valuable content you can create to help establish your brand as a thought leader or trusted source. Content marketing will help boost your SEO, your reputation, your audience, and will help retain visitors to your website.
Content marketing offers information that helps solve a customer’s problem without asking for anything in return. And if you create in-depth content, (such as a white paper or e-book) you can hold it behind a paywall and capture email addresses in return, which will help you grow your database.
So what will I gain from content marketing?

What is proofreading?
Do you ever read copy online or in print and notice spelling or grammatical errors? Misplaced words or punctuation? That, my friends, is proofreading. Not to be confused with copyediting, proofreading is giving a piece of copy the final once over, after all over editing is complete, before it’s published.
If you’re looking for developmental or copyediting, I’m afraid I’m not the person.
Okay, I’m sold! But where are you based?
My copywriting, content marketing, and proofreading services are based in Kent, UK. However, living in a digital world, I offer these services to clients all across the UK and Ireland and other English-speaking countries including the USA and Australia.
Do you offer samples?
This is a tricky one and something I’ve given considerable thought to. At the end of the day, writing copy is extremely time consuming. To give a sample, I want it to reflect my best work which requires hours of brainstorming, research, writing, revision and then editing. To do this for free, or at a reduced cost, puts me in a predicament. I’ve given my best work—which you could then use without me ever knowing—away for free.
In an effort to give you some idea of my writing style, I have decided to include samples of previously written work on my portfolio page. However, it’s important to take these samples with the context in which they were written. I have many more examples of previous work so please ask if you’d like to see more. Plus, this whole website was written by me which hopefully gives you an indication of my style.
